At dawn this morning, we lit a candle at our balcony to offer a minute’s silence to the veterans. Editor of our startup AsiaFitnessToday Syuhada Adam (Cece) is from Ranau. Last Anzac, we got chatting and she told me about the Sandakan War Memorial that would draw visitors until today. Families, friends and former allied servicemen would come and pay tribute to their loved ones. I did some research and found that some 2434 Australian and British soldiers fell to their tragic deaths at the Sandakan – Ranau death march between 1942-1945. Six escaped and survived to tell the tale. Read the tribute article here.

This is also a post with a cause – we’re fundraising for Meals on Wheels NSW and if you’d like to contribute, it’s not just a meal, it’s friendship and companionship the volunteers bring to each household when a meal is delivered. Most of these households comprise of seniors who live alone. Click here to donate to our Meals on Wheels NSW fundraiser.
