TEDx MMU

Listen by heart #Listentoyourheart is a highly personal project that delves into vibrations and the science behind feeling good, to awaken our intuition and achieve our life purpose. I’ve spent many years researching and gathering knowledge on this, and although I’m far from done, I feel that this should be shared as it can help some of you who are on this same track.

TEDXMMU was organised by students and unfortunately due to technical problems, the video quality was affected.

Music in my life

I spent a decade promoting music and creating platforms for independent musicians to perform live. And I often wondered why. I just felt I had to do it. It was like an addiction. A weird kind of madness. In fact, my peers were quite curious too. What joy did I really derive out of it. Money certainly wasn’t an impetus. Neither was fame. So what was it? Frankly, I was driven because of a love lost. I read a statement that stuck. If you can’t find someone to love, find something to do. And I did just that. Together with a handful of friends, I organised more than 100 music events from open mic nights to gigs at clubs. I even had a chance to put together one of the largest concerts ever with over 60,000 people attending. Little did I know, it was the best advise because it meant to stop living in negative energy, but start to create positive energy. I didn’t know it then. What started as a hobby, a side car, became incorporated into my career running a creative marketing & events agency. Independent musicians who started off at open mic events performing for 2 drink coupons, became better and more professional in their craft would start to earn four figure fees for one night’s show. In one financial year, the company paid out up to US$100,000 on talent fees alone! It felt good. But it didn’t last. Things changed. I felt drained by expectations of me, and I changed too. I started to feel dead inside. It was time to re-calibrate. It was time to stop doing what I was doing and start to step back and ”listen” to the scene. Observe what was going on.

First corporate engagement

I’d like to thank my friend Michelle who invited me to conduct a team activity for her colleagues at an oil & gas company Kencana Petroleum. It was an hour’s activity and she asked if I could conduct it. That really set me off on this journey of wanting to speak and share my knowledge on music, feeling good, and how the right frequency can change our lives. It was also a project I had worked on which set me off on this path of interest – frequencies and healing.

Life changing moments happen when you least expect it!

Then, a life changing moment occurred when my mother suffered a remission with a rare brain tumour (craniopharyngioma) and spent a month in the hospital in June 2014. Two brain operations later, surgeons safely removed her tumour and her pituitary while I gained more insight into our human brain, the healing process, coconut water, foot massages and vibrations. In December 2014, I had a crazy thought. What if, I were to present my ideas at a TED talk? OK, I could start at a TEDx. That would do. So I started preparing the skeletal presentation. And as if God heard me talking to myself, I received a phone call from the organisers of TEDxMMU. I’m pleased to share with you my talk at TEDxMMU in February 2015. It was my first time at TedX and I was a little overwhelmed! I am improving my presentation and hope to share more findings at talks in the near future. Who knows where I’ll be invited to?

Having an ‘unstuck’ mindset

In 2015, I reconnected with an amazing person I’ve known since 2002. Sarina said to me, Jasmine… let’s become ‘unstuck’. And that was the beginning of my journey of self discovery, constant learning by unlearning and becoming ‘unstuck’ in my old ways of thinking. I invite you to join me on this journey #Listentoyourheart and sing your own “tune” (pardon the pun!). Thank you for listening.

Sincerely,

Jasmine Low
